Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 20, 2026

This policy is provided as a starting template and is not legal advice. Have it reviewed by a qualified attorney before you rely on it.

brainmeta ("brainmeta", "we", "us") is a personality-testing and educational website operated from California, United States. This policy explains what information the site handles and the choices you have. The short version: your test answers and results stay in your own browser, we do not require an account, and we do not track you or sell your data.

Information We Collect

Test answers and results (stored on your device). When you take a test or build a verified profile, your answers and results are saved in your browser using local storage (keys such as brainmeta.results, brainmeta.verifiedProfile, and in-progress keys). This information stays on your device. It is not transmitted to or stored on our servers, and we cannot see it.

No account, no personal details. The site does not ask for your name, email address, or any similar identifier to use the tests, and we do not create accounts.

Standard server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may process basic technical information needed to deliver the site (for example, your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested). Images and content are served from a content delivery network (Sanity, at cdn.sanity.io), which similarly processes standard request data to deliver those files. We use this only to operate and secure the site.

Cookies and Local Storage

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics. We use your browser's local storage for two strictly necessary purposes: to remember your test progress and results so the site works, and to remember that you have seen our cookie notice. These are essential to the functionality you request, so there is nothing to opt out of. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site.

How We Use Information

We use the limited technical information above only to operate, maintain, and secure the site. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decisions about you, and we do not build a profile of you on our servers.

How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers to run the site (for example, our hosting and content-delivery providers), who process technical data only to provide their services to us. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

Your California Privacy Rights

Because we operate from California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), may apply. California residents have rights to know what personal information is collected, to access or delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. As described above, we do not collect personal information through accounts, we do not sell or share personal information, and your results remain on your device. To exercise any right or ask a question, contact us at privacy@brainmeta.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Data Retention

Because your results are stored in your browser, they remain until you clear your browser storage or the browser removes them. Server logs are retained only as long as needed to operate and secure the site.

Children

The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Personality-test results are for self-insight and entertainment and are not a psychological or clinical assessment.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here.
