Hi Terry!

Welcome to our forum; I'm so happy you have come to be among us here!

I know it might not be ska, but...

...I really love Flogging Molly. I have two principal reasons for this: the quality of the lyrics of their songs, and the quality of their musicianship; as a poet and composer myself I find myself respecting their work very much. Also, it's just plain bloody addictive! Of course, when my son's band puts out a CD I'll have to support them. But until then, 'tis Flogging Molly, me lads!

You could give them a listen and see what you think, eh?

Solidarity, and again, welcome among us.

flogging molly is a kickass band, and i guess some of their songs could be considered ska. one of my favorite ska bands is echo and the bunnymen. another good ska band is no doubt, but they're not ska anymore, they're pop. but if you listen to their really old stuff it's some pretty good ska.

the last reply i read was pretty legit but i jus wntd to put in my preferences
slightly stoopid
reel big fish
bad manners
madness
fishbone
goldfinger
big D and the kids table
mighty mighty bosstones
rebelution
save ferris
dropkick murphys
less than jake
buck o nine
leftover crack
, which is the band aftr the first one broke up due to some deaths and ya but the first band before leftover crack was choking victim to warn you this ska is like a heavy thrash punk ska not too mellow but it furshur has some some gnarly

i also hav an interesting suggestion for you his name is Manu Chao he's technically not ska but the beats and evrything are mellow, like ska usually is. Another chill thing about him is that he speaks in Spanish, French, and English.

o and last but most definitely not least is THE SPECIALS they are by far my most favorite and classic original ska bands evr!!!! I definitely highly suggest THE SPECIALS as the first thing you listen to. They example the real sound of ska which is like a reggae/rock mix where the beat is nice and mellow but still has an up tempo rythm. Well i think those are the only ones that come off my head this early in the morning haha but definitely enjoy and spread the love of music man
