Imago Dei

Within the face of divinity
The church would see there appears to me
Another face in an inward place
Where we are there in our time and space
Enlightened clearer than their dark mirror

A face my own when I am alone
Seeing my face by freeing the grace
Of being here now in time and space
Nor God as he then appears to be
And not he nor she but everybody

Freeing myself now seeing how you
Fleeing the church and becoming free
Being yourself are freeing God too
Nearer than far as we are and do
Farther than near we are God now and here

In our time and space in a face our own
God is us to know as we are known
