Full Version: Rat Attack
So Theodor's been living with me a few weeks now. Of course he's been shy and cautious but also curious.
Now he zips through the cage at night, alert about every interesting sound and smell there could be.
He really enjoys dried little shrimps, certain dried salad and joghi drops, no worries, I don't feed him too much.
Next month, he'll get a playmate.

Do you like rats? Most people seem to air away from they.
I believe you can get to like them very much. As for me, I just adore Theo. Rats can be lots of fun- character and all. My sister used to have one too.
That's interesting, I guess its what you get used to, most people are afraid/grossed out by rats/mice. I had pet mice once, because a friend found them in his basement, wanted them out but did not want to kill them. Seems like I viewed they differently when I could see them up close and so on, as opposed to seeing or hearing a rat/mouse in the floor boards.
Ok, so I couldn't wait till next month. Theo seemed bored.
Marie(chen) is a much younger and smaller rat than Theo is. This makes it easier for him to accept her since he is in the much stronger position, the rank is quite clear + females are usually more easy going in grouping.
Now that Mariechen is there Theo copies her moves frequently. Climbing new paths, taking shortcuts, chewing on new things etc. I hope they will grow strong as a team.
I will probably let them mate once. Rats usually feel comfortable in groups, so I will give them this chance.
I will make sure I won't end up with 20 Rats, 4 will be just fine to keep from the bundle.

I'm not going to discuss the matter of reasonability here, a- because I don't see a point to it because I don't thrive talking to people with quick fixed judgements, b- because I'm not really int...inclined to and really need to see to other things, like drinking hot chocolate.
Sorry if my tone in my posts sounded strange, but I'm also only human, and I know I have my mindless sides like everyone else.
