Turn Back the Clock to a Midnight Knock

Beasts are rutting the nutters are nutting
And all is OK in the USA
The beasts are not invited to the feasts
But we would never fit in anyway

Seems the gloom and doomers are late bloomers
But they have broken out the sunshine now
Guess they read the polls and heard the rumors
About their fearless leader / sacred cow

A short attention-span for common pain
And bitterness is too hot for TV
So we love one another once again
The USA must U-N-I-T-E

Just do it their way or hit the highway
We did that but I wonder if they know
Upbeat and sunny heartwarming funny
The main thing is to get on with the show

Does anything still matter? I guess so
Uplifting money gutwrenching honey
The natter and the patter do-si-do
Pledge allegiance now and have a good time

You dance a jig while I make up a rhyme
And we will leave them laughing when we go

Hey Hey
This is tremendous. Almost not humorous but crafted sarcastically, artistically and expertly so as to seem so. it is a speck of Eliot, a smidgeon of Milligan, a spoonful of Lear and a spot of Milne. But the Chaplin stands out silently - thoughts before the writing and thoughts after the reading - yes, a sprinkle of pathos. In all, the formula for a memorable and meaningful poem. Now I'll read it again.....enjoy......

My dear friend, you understand me like no other; nobody "gets" me quite the way you do.

Thank you.

Love,

+Stevie
