Transcendental Sonnet #1218:
That's All

I didn't think I was but some called me good
At least I always did whatever I could
Took care of sick people alone for ten years
Twelve if you count it another way and tears
Are about all I have left of my life now

(I could never live bereft of my wife now)

I could've done worse I wrote a lot of verse
Wrote a lot of music which nobody cares
About not even me but nothing compares
To the simple truth that somebody loved me
Something which I thought I'd never live to see

I've made a difference however small I know
Sometimes felt like I've failed and like letting go
I've tried to do good... did what I could... that's all
