Transcendental Sonnet #1217:
...Somewhere ...Back There

The lame postman came but only brought me bills
After his few days mysterious absence
Finally returning only brought more ills
His delivery becomes more erratic
No longer absurd regressing to nonsense
As it slows steadily to become static

Since he was on the telephone the whole time
I tried to communicate through pantomime
But he turned around and in my box I found
A letter from ASCAP and a mystery
They want to give me money for music I
Once wrote a lifetime ago but cannot find

As part of history the form they send the heirs when you die
I am still here but I left my mind behind ...somewhere ...back there
