Transcendental Sonnet #1215:
Tea and Rice and Rain Rain Rain

for Silke

If it rains any more my house will float away
I'm serious! Some other houses have today
And people get swept by suddenly swollen streams
To rude awakenings from California dreams
My car looks like a great big boat but still I fear
To try to ride the rivers to get out of here

So I just stay inside with my cat all the time
Drinking tea eating rice and working at my rhyme
Lots of tea not much rice under siege but it's nice
I was able to talk with Silke on the phone
An ocean between us but we are not alone
And I pray each day appealing for her healing

My dearest darling little girl! My fragile one!
Please get all well and come back to me with the sun!
