Mental Image

Every line, each scar
The dusting of gray in your mustache
The deep blue of your eyes
behind the curve of your glasses
Brilliant white teeth
maybe a little crooked
in your otherwise perfect smile
The shape of your nose
and the arch of your brows
Straw is the color of your hair
Unless it's too long
then it becomes white-blonde
And soft
Like silk running through my fingers
The angle of your chin
and the curve of your cheeks
The fullness of your lips
My mind's eye sees them all
Burned into my memory
For all time

Firstly, thank you for commenting on 'Say'. Secondly, nice poem! It does give me a mental inmage of the induvidual you speak of, and a hint of how feel about them, in the choice of the words.

Reflective poem, genteel rhythm, your ability to describe your mental picture clearly and flow from one line to the other while keeping unity in the heart of the poem is very skillful. I love the way poetry offers a way to paint pictures in our minds with words and offer them to others with feeling. This poem struck me as kind of feminist in a way, not sure why maybe it was the weighting on the visual details evoking the emotional response more than the emotional response existing alone, I really enjoyed that, was fresh.

Intimately beautiful, delicate and fresh and sweet and pure.

May your love be blessed, as we are blessed by your words, even it is only a memory...

May your love be always with you, one way or another.
