Not a clue what half the stuff you were talking about like MeV electrons and GeV cosmic rays and dielectric strength, so I'm guessing that it is not being written for the laymen.

The first paper will be mostly qualitative and a review of the ideas as they stand currently, but after that I'll revamp the aged literature on the positive streamer mechanism so that I can reintroduce it into the picture. The relativistic electron avalanche mechanism is pretty well covered and is the current favorite for starting lightning, but the promoters of it claim that it is alone the direct precursor to lightning by directly generating fields on the order of the dielectric strength of air. My 'theory' is that a relativistic avalanche need not locally increase the electric field by an order of magnitude as required by its proponents, but only double it so that the positive streamer mechanism can kick in. Since the positive streamer mechanism develops into a positive feedback loop, initiating it ensures its continuation until a leader system is able to develop. It seems to me that this scenario is much more probable than the giant relativistic electron avalanche alone, although it is still possible that the relativistic avalanche alone can do the trick if it is strong enough. Additionally, nobody seems to want to actually describe the physics of the emerging leader system, they basically just say 'strong electric field = lightning'. I'm going to toss the 'space leader' idea into the ring (the embryonic bipolar leader) because it makes sense, and is already well known as the mechanism of extension of the negative 'stepped' leader

Very sharp comment about RTB, but one prudent remark have to be added: he helps the garbage to go around, thus he helps chaotic info to be spread. E.g. his noise concerning the chronovisor was interesting by itself.
