I almost crapped my pants when I found this:

America's Army

apparently it's been around a few years, and has a few million users (now including me, it is quite fun). The idea is that the U.S. army gives it away for free to kids and observes them playing it primarily to find potential recruits.

There's also a new game called first to fight that centers around marine corps tactics. The game is extremely realistic down to marine's unique tactics dealing with squad warfare. The "plot" supposedly revolves around real events that took place in lebanon. This page has a decent preview and some screenshots for both xbox and pc. First to Fight
