Transcendental Sonnet #1128:
Only These Bones Remain

One man set himself on fire
Outside the White House today
Another man climbed the fence
Opposition is intense

The lost hope the heart's desire
That the junta go away
Is denied us by the dense
Smoke and mirrors of the lies
Of the cruel and the rich

Most refuse to realize
They were killed back in Iraq
Only these bones remain which
Dance to the impulse of the string
"My country 'tis of thee I sing"
