Transcendental Sonnet #1098:
Dissident
The political process and I are through
The stupidity of it all gives me fits
I see there is no hope whatever I do
The political process and I are quits
The rubes elect boobs as we go down the tubes
They tune out they turn inward they turn their back
Deep asleep until the next terror attack
Today I begin life as a dissident
I resent will not relent will not recant
This junta will never stifle my dissent
I will never repent: I won't for I can't
I did not choose you and I will refuse you
Nor did you choose me but must you abuse me?
No more TV news: now I have my own views

Quite frankly, politics these days makes me sick. I'm starting to think we will never have an honest president....

My feelings exactly too. But I know my disappointment will pass and I will become politically active again. On the brighter side, the California Assembly candidate (Mike Gordon) I also campaigned for won by a thin margin, so I know some good was done.
