Full Version: Mortal Soul

Oh! eternal, ever-present nature
You, the core of all happenings
never made your presence felt
never did you talked of self

You planted the seed of life
that now grows on and on
the cycle of life and death
that paces with the time’s turn

Of all your spectaculars
Human, a mere fragment
Owns a life shorter than your breath
And such fuss it had become

How the mind came to believe
That it plays any role
What is the source of this illusion?
What way will it end?

When it can’t govern life or death
Or any happenings in between
Why then the mortal soul
Prides at the sound of ‘I’
