Stupidity Masking Cupidity

The mask of the puppet's stupidity
That artificial homespun folksiness
Obscures the cynical cupidity
Of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney and unless
The electorate which this mask misleads
Find out in time to make a change our needs
Will remain unmet: a sad but safe bet

I grieve to see the faithful poor misled
Their faith their hope their charity are used
For faithless works of hate and fear instead
Of what they have been told their trust abused
By people far more wicked than they seem
The robbers of our American dream:

Content aside, the style has a traditional feel of real language. That the content is topical makes the work a remarkable highlight in the world of poetry.
