The Journey

Weathered face, leathered and wrinkled
Showing his age, day by day
Wisdom written, this man standing tall
Sites his eyes had vision seen

Never showing the tears or anger
The hurt or dismay, this man like stone
Holding head up high, he passes on
The missing links, the knowledge known

To his son in hopes and dreams
That someday he too would be
A figure up on high, in someone else’s eyes
Spilling secrets learned, bottled inside

Never to hide, life’s lessons within
Sharing the feeling, the love not hates
With everyone he can, before it’s too late
For judgment day, will someday near

We mustn’t go without setting free
These thoughts to us so dear
Love, passion, sadness, happiness
Joy, laughter, sorrow, forgiveness

Share with family and friends
Through all life’s journeys
These treasures you sometimes hide
Open your heart, invite all inside
