When I started school they still sat people in the corner and had them wear a 'dunce cap'. I never had to do it - LOL.

These hats were like the witch hats seen in various places including Discovery Channel's treatment of the Tarim attire as quoted by Elizabeth Wayland Barber in 'The Mummies of Urumchi'.
