Ego is a mental construct and is not necessary for application of the identity theorem of consciousness.

i think that purpose and meaning is demonstrated through identity because all we are is what we make ourselves to be and what other people make of us. we have become extremely disengaged from who, or what, we really are, and the only way to relearn who we really are is to enter a state of enlightenment, but the vast majority of the world will never be enlightened, so without enlightenment all we have is our identity to make us something, and we can either let this identity atrophy or we can use it to obtain a purpose that has meaning that is within our grasp.

QUOTE
What computer runs this system? Where is it?
Dan responds: "The universe is the 'computer'...."
I think that this is what the Professor of Engineering, Seth Lloyd, at MIT, is saying in his recent book, "Programming the Universe." is he not?
