The Passion of the Rock
The third day to come and the third day the same
the third time the rooster returns me
my own name
this broken name
You told me You'd make me a fisher of men
You told me You'd bring me a world without end
how could I know You would leave
this broken tree
How many days shall arise to fall away?
returning me this darkened place
this broken dream
How many dreams come to reach this broken tree?
how many dreams can I take
without Your name
I told You to call me to walk on the sea
You told me I follow the call of the deep
better if I would fall still
without Your will
Seven times seven times seven I've said
how many times will I say
I'm sorry
I am so now
How many dreams come to reach this broken tree?
how many dreams can I take
without Your name
How many days shall arise to fall away?
returning me this darkened place
this broken dream
I am so now
I am so now

Maybe I'm having difficulting dealing with this piece because it surely is a song, as you indicate. And I'm probably trying, in my simple way, to interpret it purely as a poem. It has many impressive stanza/verses and the faith-related lines are well considered and meaningful. Fourth line from the end needs editing? But I'm almost entering the Critique Board and I shouldn't. As my teacher used to say "A fine attempt!"

Hey, Thanks,
I hesitate to post lyrics on a poetry forum,
(lyrics ain't poetry.)

Sure they are, Shawn, in a different way, just as poetry is melody without the music.

I read this earlier, but all I could think to say was "Wow...." Real eloquent, huh? Well, I've read it a few times, and all I can really think of is....Wow.....

~Much Love~

Thank you,
The power of the word is an awesome thing,
your words reveal the miracle;
I sit myself down,
decipher a number of glyphs on a glowing pool of glass,
and I now I feel your voices within me,
and I know gratitude.
Amazing.

Hey, Shawn R., I love it too; and I just want to lend my voice of support to those of these my friends and colleagues on the board.
We need and we appreciate you here, especially now, in a dark time when we are under attack by those who hate us. You are a voice of light, and I welcome and appreciate and celebrate you.
Stand with us against the darkness.
Welcome.
Peace.

I came back to this. I get it! I need the music. Please, please. Actually maybe not. Now I get the words, I don't want to risk spoiling them. But I'm sure your music is very nice.
