Transcendental Sonnet #1025:
September
for Silke
I used to despair
Of your being there
Over the weekends
Remember?
But now through the days
I feel you always
Our love never ends
As ember
It burns as a flame
It shines in your name
It warms me and lends
September
A burnished glow though falls the fall
You are my everything my all

Steven,
This is wonderful work!! I only wish that I could find, and have, what you and Silke share. Congrats on the book!!

Thank you so much!
Your kind words nourish my heart.
Yes, it is all a miracle with Silke. I just thank God for her, write sonnets for her, and realize I am indeed "The Lucky Little Bastard."

Now this is the essence of poetry. The short lines are uncharacteristic of your work, but I like them very much. They seem to skip along, much like a rock on the surface of a pond. Combine that energy with the potency of the words, and you've got yourself another winner!

Crisp and fresh, then warming.
