Transcendental Sonnet #1023:
On Reading Silke's Book for the First Time

Silke I hold your heart within my hands
Here wrapped within the covers of your book
These words these images in your own blood
Are your heart touching mine are understood

Your heart has found a heart which understands
I know the stare the disapproving look
How it hurts to be judged by the unjust
Who never listen to what we might say
Who force their lies on us as feel they must
Who run the world and who control the day

Then very well let them be fools at noon
Our time comes just as surely at midnight
Where I will meet you rising with the moon
Your heart in my hands: your book of moonlight

Silke's work is both heartbreaking and enlightening, and her illustrations serve to emphasize and personify the poems. It was a beautiful work of art, and I strongly encourage others to purchase it!! happy.gif I absolutel;y adore your last stanza, Steven! Great, great work.
