Ground Zero

I’m back on ground zero
More damaged than before
With wounds that cannot be mended
With feelings that cannot be undone

I’m back on ground zero
Winds of change in the air
Yet I cling on to memory
Of things forgotten and over

I’m back on ground zero
My tears keep falling down
No matter how I try and try
I just cannot seem to let go

....Ich bin ein Amerikaner.

September 11, 2001. A day that will forever be remembered.

Let it not be remembered for the evil acts of violence targeted at fear, panic and death. But remember the human spirit, the brotherhood of mankind, and the goodness that not only New Yorkers but Americans and the world over have dedicated to saving our most precious resource: life. For this is the only way to stand up to those wish to fight from shadows, or are rabid enough to believe it is worth their own life to see so many others end.

Thank you for this solidarity which we share across the sea and in our hearts.

I love you, and I am happy that you have shared this with us here at our request.

I should inform our readers that it was originally posted only on the political board, but, at this sad time of anniversary and remembrance, it seems to belong here as well, as a thing in itself, as the beautiful poem which it truly is.

Thank you, Silke, and know that I am not the only one who loves you hereabouts. You have many, many hearts in solidarity with that beautiful heart of yours.

You are truly loved, respected, and appreciated, by our entire community.

And I am thinking of you, praying for you, dreaming of you, this weekend and always.

If anybody can make it, you can make it; if anybody can heal, you can heal; I believe in you with all my heart and soul, and I know you will get well.

Hey Hey
Power to Silke, Power to Steven, Power to America !

We in the UK do not forget September 11th and the suffering inflicted upon our innocent friends in America, and indeed from other countries, including Britain. But, as Silke states so well, the comradeship and selfless heroism are the characterictics that we prefer to remember.

Steven and Silke, I have a particular memory of September 11th 2001. I had neurosurgery on 20th August and was in a bad way, but on September 11th I asked my wife to take me out for a drive in the car. Even though I felt so ill, I also felt I had been given back my life. We stopped and my wife called into a store. I turned on the radio. The news flash told the real time events in NY. My life was back but so many were lost. What a terrible memory!

"You are truly loved, respected, and appreciated, by our entire community."

Here here!

These are more than just mere sentiments, Silke.

We all love you!
