Transcendental Sonnet #979:
An Envelope of Love Across the Sea

for Silke

I sit at home and get so depressed
But when you touch my heart like today
It makes me want to get up get dressed
Get out then I can no longer stay
Bound and gagged within a lonely room

When I need you most when I despair
Silke you pull me out of the gloom
You break through and get me out of there
When my own head has become my tomb

The miracle occurs without fail
When I need you most you come to me
The miracle arrives in the mail
A poem and a couple bags of tea
An envelope of love across the sea
