Transcendental Sonnet #969:
One All-Embracing All-Consuming Light!
Summer grass at night on my bare feet
In the gardenias the crickets sing
Velvet summer night-wind soft and sweet
And I am at one with everything
I feel it all around inside of me
The turning world is rocking me to rest
Come kiss me Silke! Blaze to ecstasy
This little spark which flickers in my breast!
And we will feel the turning world turn round
As our entangled bodies leave the ground
And we will rise to soar up in the sky
As we transcend mortality or die
Trying crying: noon is one with midnight!
One all-embracing all-consuming light!
