Does anyone know of a study, book or article that discusses the specific effects of social interaction on the brain? I'm working specifically on support groups, but general psychosocial influences would help as well.

Have you looked into Howard Gardner's work? The study done by harvard on old people put back to their youth is relevant. The book Wonder Child (Peter Lorie et al) addresses it too.
