Transcendental Sonnet #946:
In the Circus Center-Ring
In the Plaza by the fountain today
I realized how Hollywood we are
There were a lot of tourists from Japan
They're making a movie across the way
Or I guess it's a television show
Here's the place to show off a classic car
Or bring a date if you're a rich old man
With pony-tail sandals and beer-belly
And we're very often on the telly
I'm here to write a sonnet if I can
Here in the circus center-ring to be
The Poet of the Plaza al fresco
I don't know why they all come here but this much I do know:
If I weren't born here it would be too expensive for me

Steven, we have another connection of minds. Just yesterday, at the wedding I attended, I was discussing sunny Caliofornia with an old friend. I said how some people have the fortune to be born in locations with good climate (+related food), even lowly families, and yet others would never have the possibility to live there due to the expense (expecially of housing).
Can I recommend that you seek the music "Dew Climbs" by Lunz. Excellent and inspiring music to write poetry to. A sort of modern classical style. I know that you would like it. You mentioned your tastes in music in a previous article. I think that we are similar. I will try out anything, classical to rap, jazz to pop, new age to country etc. I do like slow music with connotations. I especially like emotional music by young artists - it is often so fresh, original and truthful. My favourite artist of all time is Shawn Phillips. his father James Atlee Phillips was a poet, Shawn is too, but has also made music since the 60's. His words and music are phenomenal, but he has a voice to match. I have not let one week go by since the early 70' without playing some of his songs. He also has a great Texan laugh! He has been poorly recognised by the music professionals in the USA, but has a great following throughout the world. He now lives in South Africa with a new wife. He had a quadruple bipass a few years ago (due to usual vices I think) but still continues to tour a great deal. I hope to catch him in Germany in November if I get the money. I have seen him live just one time, at the Jazz Cafe in London. My whole family went to see him. I still cry when I think of that night. He performs alone. So his words, his music, his voice, his energy, just him. He has inspired me for many years. How do he categorise his music? - fullfilling. His latest album was entitled "No Category". I recommend his albums from the 60.70 and 80's, such as Contribution, 2nd Contribution (maybe start with this one), Collaboration, Rumplestiltkins Resolve, Furthermore. Hope you get a chance to listen to songs such as "Early Morning Hours", "Troof", "She was waiting for her mother at the station in Torrino and I know you love me baby but its getting too heavy to laugh".
Love and peace to You and Silke.
