Transcendental Sonnet #941:
The Parrots and the Ravens
One hundred green parrots are harvesting today
They are dropping pecans and it is bombs away
While the black ravens stalk starkly down on the ground
Snatching up each missile as soon as it is found
These parrots are most inefficient at farming
Drop most of their crop and find ravens alarming
Their odd little green feet thus never touch the soil
The ravens are the undertakers of their toil
It is all well and good to be so green and gay
Black ravens in the end will bear them all away
When a parrot falls at last and reaches the ground
The ravens go about their work without a sound
Green and gay and noonlight black and stark and moonlight
Black ravens in the end will bear us all away
