On the image uploader page, when uploading an image larger than the maximum 50k, with the email confirmation box checked, after attempting upload, the error will be shown correctly on the status page with the failure to upload, but email confirmation of the upload will be erroneously sent.
Shawn
thanks Rick. I'll look into this. I'd intentionally made the image upload limit rather small to prevent using up too much server space. However, I wasn't aware that confirmation emails were still being sent out. The image size of 50k, while on the small side, should still be sufficient for large images if compression is used (i.e., if they're in the proper .jpg format).

Here's a possible bug. I just tried the "post in html" feature, as described in the FAQ. When post 7347 was added, I see only the code, not what the page should look like. Please advise.

this has been taken care of. Thanks for bringing the matter to my attention. See your thread at http://brainmeta.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7347 for more information.
Rick
The "h2" tagged lines should appear in a larger bold font. Perhaps I should do a test with a variety of html tags to find all the bugs at once, rather than dribble them in. For now, due to the line break bug and the non-bold headings, I will remove the tags and use just the regular posting features.
Rick
My inbox says I have 22 of the allowed 30 messages (73% full). I count only six in the inbox and two in the sent items. What am I missing? I tried the archive feature and it tells me that the menu has been disabled when I hit "process."
Rick
I got the archive feature to work using the non-default html option. Now I deleted all my messages (inbox and sent) and it shows my using 47% of my space with zero messages.
Rick
After the move to brainmeta.com, people's avatar images seem to be unavailable.
Shawn
I'll take care of the avatar issue now
Rick
Avatars now working.
Rick
Two stock images still seem to be missing, the "new posts" and "no new votes" icons.
Rick
The "last unread" feature seems to be broken. I get the first post, when what I want is the last. I noticed it yesterday too. Also when posting a new topic, I get dumped back to the first page. This bug only occurs with multiple-page topics.

Thanks Rick. I should check this board more often. Just yesterday I realized and fixed the mixing image problem, and then saw your posts here. I will see about doing something about the 'last unread post' issue. I wasn't aware of this problem until now.
Rick
December 9th now and clicking on "last post by" still takes one to the first post of a multi-page topic. It works correctly with single-page topics, however.
Rick
Similarly when posting to a multi-page topic. Previously, the user was returned to the end of the thread, viewing his own last post. Now that is broken, and the user is thrown back to the top of the thread on the first page. One must then click "last" among the page links, and then scroll down to see his just-posted message.
Shawn
I'll check it out Rick. I haven't noticed the problem myself but haven't had my eye out for it either.
Rick
Maybe it's just me. I'll reboot and see what happens.
Rick
Rebooted and I'm still experiencing the problem with multi-page topics. MSIE 6.02.8. Nobody else seems to have this problem. I mentioned it in a different topic and nobody confirmed it.
Shawn
it's not just you Rick. I just noticed the problem now for the first time when I clicked on the 'view last post' of the multi-page thread 'Some Suggestions Needed Please'; it took me to the first page instead of the last. I'll have to see what sort of bug is responsible but it should be fixed soon in any event. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
Rick
Still not fixed, as far as I can tell. I have to click on the last page link and do a "control end" to get to the same place where I used to get to automatically.
Rick
Still not fixed.
Rick
Still broke.

I gave up the manufacture of whisky a while back.
I can recommend beer as a solution, but what about that lager that gets you to places you haven't been before? tongue.gif tongue.gif
Rick
Just fix the damn bug!
Unknown
Get Last Post works for me. Is that the bug?
Rick
On posts with multiple pages it fails for me. Above, Shawn has confirmed this is a bug. Perhaps it's beyond his capability to fix it.
Rick
When this thread gets long enough to have two pages, the bug will show up here. For now, see one of the long topics such as "Acronym Word Game" and click "last post."

A related bug occurs when posting to a long (multipage) topic. Normally, the user should be returned to the topic at his post. What occurs is the user is thrown back to the beginning (top of first page) of the topic.

Hi Rick,

My post was intended to take a bit of heat out of this problem which Shawn seems to be taking a long time to fix.

Update.
I have just tried your instructions (re acronym) and everything works ok for me!
'First' works from the last page.
'Last' works from the first page.
'First unread' works from anywhere.

I've not checked the 'posting' version of the problem.

I'm using winxp home and opera 8 beta, but haven't tried any other combinations.

hi Rick,
I have tried to find the bug recently, but haven't. When I do, it will be fixed, probably on a weekend when I have time to test things out here in the forum.

Within the topic the page navigation links work. What doesn't work (for me) is from the topic list page, the "read last post" link. Similarly, after posting within the thread, the first post is shown, not the last, which would be the one I had just posted.

I confirm this one Rick - sorry for not understanding the problem!
Rick
Thank you, Rhymer. Here is some more information:

When posting a reply, as noted above, the hapless user gets thrown back to the beginning (top) of a multi-page topic. Yet if the user then edits that post, he is nicely returned to the bottom (his modified post), as he should be.
Shawn
Ok, I have confirmed the "read last post" problem. It's strange because I don't have the problem on my local server, but the remote server that hosts this site does have the problem, which suggests it's something about the mysql (database) configuration on the remote server that's the issue. I won't forget about this problem, Rick, but because I'm currently stuck for a solution, I'm going to stick it on the backburner for now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Rick
Confirming on the way back from "acronym word game" that the issue still exists.
Rick
Looks like it's a really tough problem. Here's an easier one: when I log in on the home page, there are already a row of stars (asterisks) in the password entry box, so it looks like it's remembering my password, suckering me into hitting enter and getting rejected. Just remove the pseudo passsword already!
Rick
Here's another easy one:

At the bottom of each topic is a "fast reply" text box like the one I am typing in now. There is an "Add Reply" button that puts the text into the topic as a new post. There is also an "Add Reply" link that takes the user to an editing page. Two different behaviors with the same verbal cue. Confusing. One should be "add this reply" and the other should be "create a new reply."
Rick
I am showing a missing image for the "No New Votes" icon for a new poll.

Confirming that it is still a problem.

Unfortunately, I don't have the rights to go in and change the code to point to the existing gif file. The solution is to make the named file exist again.
Rick
New bug with the new organization: the home page doesn't recognize me as logged in, tempting to me to log in again unnecessarily.
Rick
Scripts "get new post" and "get last post" do not seem to be working properly.
