Transcendental Sonnet #912:
Odd Things Like Celery

I quit smoking last year and now I quit drinking
And this leaves me a great deal of time for thinking
With neither the oral fixation of smoking
Nor befuddlement of booze... and I'm not joking
I really feel like I can get a lot more done
Like I just woke up and things seem like they're more fun

Last year a pencil replaced my erstwhile cigar
Now it is the novelty of driving my car
To distant stores to buy odd things like celery
And distant shores beckon my curiosity

So I keep my hand busy writing poetry
Drink a lot of water and see what I can see
And perhaps now I will live a very long time
(Which I will need if I'm to get better at rhyme!)

This is both cute and insightful.
I think, too, it lends to giving some faith to those who also wants to give up their vices but are afraid they will missing out if they do.

Good as always, Steve.

Blessed Be!
