Hi,
First of all (sorry for my english- foreigner on th board - European wink.gif )

I have concluded Medicine, 3 years ago, found this forum on a web search, very interesting ,and as I like neuroscience, I will post some of my doubts and knowledgs.

I've been using Olmifon(adrafinil), and I have had an Excellent experience.I think, read and understand faster. The best one,on an run out of time study- short term memory.
But can give you a wrong self sensation of memorization (as you just memorize/imprint, and sometimes you lack on constructing mechanism and "synapses" relations that are the ones that make you have long term memory). For long term memory, it's better a cerebral vasodilator , like vinpocetine, added with nutrients, like choline, dmae, glutamine, vit B6.......

Neverthenless, I've found few information(on web) on dosage for purporse of mind enhancing, on smart drugs.

My experience, 1 pill of Olmifon is more than sufficient (300mg). If you take 2 or 3 (900mg), you really feel the bust, but you DON'T SLEEP. And sleep is essencial for consolidation of information, so the next day will be horrible. It's true, after a week, just taking 1 pill, you need to sleep less (4-6h), and awake really fresh. My advice, don't take for a long time, only on demand (study), as you all know it has hepatic side effects, and makes your urine smell bad (but I have found no explanation for that. The metabolization of adrafinil is hepatic.Perhaps its a metabolite that stinks, that's excreted. No kidney danger whatsoever in literature). If you have money, buy modafinil (lesser side effects).

I've been recently interested in vasopressin(desmopressin), once again short term memory, that's why I found this forum.
How do you use it (dosage) for mind enhancing? Do you use it every single day for a long period? What about down regulation of receptors and endogenous secretion of natural desmopressin? What happens when you brutally stop, do you feel slow minded?Aren't you afraid of the DANGEROUS side effect, if you drink too much water, and I imagine after taking it you perhaps will feel really thirsty, edema, hyponathremia, ending in convulsions?
What do you tactics do you use?

Would apreciate your personnal experiences.

My experiences with vasopressin have been positive. I had used the nasal spray (I'm not sure what the exact dosage was that I was taking), and noticed a pronounced change in mindset the first few times I used it. An interesting effect I noticed from vasopressin was enhanced orgasm. I mean, I experienced things I never had before, in terms of sensations and like; it's hard to put into words, but vasopressin may make your orgasms much stronger and more mind-blowing. I'd heard it said that vasopressin is great to take before conferences because it enhances memory, but I never experienced this. In fact, except for the altered mindset and enhanced orgasm, I didn't get much else out of it. And of course, the effects decreased with continued usage of vasopressin, so that after a few weeks, there were no noticeable effects from taking it. I could have tried taking higher dosages, I guess, but didn't have the spare money at the time for such experimenting.

I'm not sure about the downregulation of desmopressin that you mentioned. My experiences with vasopressin have always been for 2-3 weeks of taking it every day, and then going off of it for several months. I never experienced any bad side effects, either on, or going off, the drug. Nor do I recall vasopressin making me feel excessively thirsty (though I was expecting to).

Well, in terms of thirsty, it shouldn't happen, because as vasopressin supress the excretion of water in the kidney, you have more volumn, so the central and peripheral mechanism of sympathic and renin-aldosterone (i'm writing in my language sorry) detect that excess of volumn/tension, and therefore are supressed, so no need/or feeling for salt or water. So you shouldnt feel thirsty, my mistake, I should have known that for the first place. You have to make an effort not to drink too much water, as is wont be excreted.

If you say that after 2-3 weeks, that the same dose didnt have the same effect, is because some kind of downregulation of receptors takes place (more dose for the same effect). But that is strange, because in diabets insipidus nephrogenic you dont have that effect, hummmm, only central downregulation!

Well, maybe I will try it, starting in low doses. Neverthenless, I think it's a smart drug only good when you have to study a day/week.....not when you have to study for months like myself.
