Transcendental Sonnet #885:
If Only...

Somehow it is more cruel in the sun
To be alone and have nobody care
Than to be under cover of the dark

When it was night I was the only one
And I could imagine that you were there
Just out of reach in black and white and stark

But now I am out here and all alone
Here in the sunny Plaza of my youth
At home but mocked by those who are unknown
To me my agony misunderstood
By transient tourists in my neighborhood

Silke I love you... I am so lonely...
My life is meaningless to tell the truth
And must I die alone? Oh... if only...
