I was wondering if anyone knew of any measurable scientific evidence that meditation or someone having a spiritual experience, has on the physical body(ie..brain chemistry, brain activity etc...). I am curious to see any physical evidence that anyone has to offer. I am not looking for answers to make me believe in meditation or that a spiritual experience or spiritual awakening can occur. I know that it does and it can. My analytical side would appreciate any input that anyone may have. Thank You!
I just realized that this topic may be in the wrong forum. I apologize I am new to this...

MRI/SPECT or PET technology maps such things. (Harvard, U of Illinois on Wesselmann and others)
Hormonal affects are measurable.
Healings are documented. (Man with brain tumor removed from SF etc)
The Beta Brainwave game available in good schools and bio-feedback usages in medicine and elsewhere.
NASA study on man who does not eat for years.
Yogis who have gone without food for days under close inspection which has been studied for many years.
IN the early 70s they put a Yogi in a vacuum chamber for a fixed time and had his body functions monitored till he appeared dead - brought him out at a prescribed time - he revived.
The amny decades and stillon-going Minnesota Twins study.
Nelya Michelova and Barbara Ivanova - PK and psychic.
J. B. Rhine and Duke.
U of Virginia studies including the NDE experience.
Losts of things I could detail from the area of black ops.

Thank you for your help. What is black ops? Do you have any suggestions where I may find charted MRI/SPECT or PET studies documented on this topic?

Shawn posted a source here this week for the PET studies I think.

Black ops - government secret research and those in businesses behind the government.

There was a book on the Harvard SPECT studies and there are many reports of the use of MRI in places like McGill where they (common sense alone should know this) showed the area of the brain that music effects and how it changed the hormones and depression of mental patients.

Search under my name and you will find things here on the Third Eye and lots more.

Ceck out the book "Why God Won't Go away", by Andrew Newberg and Eugene d'Aquili.
there is a definite change in the brain that can be clearly seen on a pet scan.

Dear Scott

We have discussed this study done at harvard many times here. Do you think this is indicative of God?
