Transcendental Sonnet #878:
Darkness

The dust and ashes of another day
The butt-end of the worst in a long time
And what the hell am I supposed to say?
And why do I bother with stupid rhyme?

Since this is who I am and how I do
What I do I must do it and be true
To whoever however whatever
I am on this night alone without you

I used to think this Friday was lucky
"Contention of life and death" (what bullshit)
And I welcomed it naive and plucky
Now I wonder if I will survive it

As the darkness reaches for my soul I say
Non confundar in aeternum Domine

Why do I do what I do? I do ask it. I must do something. I enjoy this or that. So continue, go on. It's meaningful. I swear. You've been alive, roughly, 18,093 days. You're bound to have a crappy day somewhere in there.
