watching fireworks
lighting up the sky
i gave you all i had
told you every wish
together never coming true
goodbye
i swore i wouldn't cry
the hardest word
goodbye

burning fire
heat fills the room
we lay here once
shared stories of yesterday
together growing apart
goodbye
i swore forever for you i'd try
the hardest word
goodbye

old photographs
remembering the past
we a new tale of what was
of what could have been
together a part of history
goodbye
i swore our love wouldn't die
the hardest word
goodbye
it hurts to say it
goodbye

Oh, Angela, how right you are about that; that is the hardest word of all, "goodbye." I have had to say it and have heard it many times, and the sting and the ache and the wound of it will never go away.

Your poem is good and strong, with a very nice cadence to it. It speaks to my heart today.

Ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est.
