Hi Silkchen...
I really enjoy the four-panel aspect of this piece; it is a bulldog becoming, manifesting. Remember the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland who disappears leaving only his grin behind him? He has a sort of antipodal relationship to this bulldog, the cat serving as yin to the bulldog's yang; the bulldog appears, the cat disappears, canine and feline as the wheel of karma turns.
You master such specificity of bulldogged detail in these panels, as this stouthearted lad emerges into being, that it is amazing to remember that you didn't have an actual big bulldog right there with you to inspire you and to draw from life. Perhaps one of your doctors resembles this bulldog; many doctors do. That could have been a contributing factor to its incredible verisimilitude.
What I mean to say is "well done, old son," except you are young and not old, and my wife and not my son; in which case I will just say that this is a delightful artwork, and I wish I had a great big print of it on my wall here in my house.
You are, as I might have mentioned before, my favorite artist.
I love you!
