While we all appreciate your feedback on all our poems, i'm sure at least one other person might agree with me. You often repeate yourseld when posting. Claiming people need to Put a REASON for writing what they write, or whats going to happen next. I think sir, that you may be getting your poetry definition mixed up with you definition of a story. True that some poems DO tell a story but not all do. Often times they are just a refelction of current moods or feelings. And i must say that often times your poetry does not reflect your own advice. All poetry does not need a set beginning or and set end. Please rethink when you write what our poetry "needs" And it is understandable if hte request fits the poetry, but not if it's an emotion.
Otherwise all your posts are extremely well noted

Although i am a big fan of Snowflake's posts, I agree. i think that poetry, although it can tell a story, is many times just capturing a feeling. feelings and thoughts many times do not need a story or a reason.

If you color letters in black ink onto a piece of paper, is there not a reason? Every poems tells a story about something, someway. Words form a narrative by which we live. And as we write our experiences down we display it so that we might understand the other, by stepping into their narrative.
I may not know exactly how you feel. But if you show me what you saw, I can begin to react to the same situation as I would normally do. And what you're writting about can easily be broad enough so that I would relate to it.
If you'll remember the Bill Cospy that was on TV, you'll realize very quickly, that that has nothing to do with this.
All poems, books, stories, movies, are just tricks that you play on the reader. You have to trick them into feeling full of love, or into crying, or into feeling that they can conquer the world. But if you're going to tell them how to feel then there's no trick to play. And there is nothing for the reader to work for.
I have written a few poems that were published in an annual poetry book that my college put out. I am not accomplished. But I have learned a few things, from school, and writing mentors. I can't prove any credibility to you. And if you want to read my comments then note that it is my perspective. You don't have to read my responses.

I do not write to offend you, i simply feel that poetry is a "story" that need no set beginning, end, rhyme(loosly used) or reason. you say that it is for you to "relate to it" if it is a simple feeling, no one can relate exactly to the way you are feeling. And you may feel an emotion through poetry through what an author wishes to share. And simply just what an author wishes to share. Often times those write to share the feeling or the burden of the feeling, not to have others relate and feel sympathy, or whatever else you do when you "relate" to a feeling. And emotions are often not stories...but simply just....................................emotions
