Transcendental Sonnet #819:
Soaking Up Sunshine

I soak up sunshine thirstily today
Into my skin as I give in to life
Absorb it all before it goes away
And save it up to send to you my wife

My savings account of sunshine is full
In this way I am very rich indeed
Although I might lack economic pull
I soak up sunshine with hustle and greed
I am successful and I gather well
Such light as filters down to me in hell

But that is just to speak philosophy
Hard life has taught me to think plainer than
Such ideas and I am a lucky man
Soaking up sunshine to send you from me
