You in your life and me in mine, in different years on different continents, have slowly walked with our arms crossed, holding ourselves because we had no one to hold us, crying in the wind. Each with no idea of the other, not then, not yet. Now we can see we were feeling the same thing one as the other; two hearts, one autumn. Autumn is one as all is one; autumn is the time for tears as time is one and tears are always.
I can see you there and you can see me here, on parallel planes of reality, walking past each other then. Later we saw each other through the tears, and autumn was redeemed by winter, tears into snow, and winter melted liberated into the stream of spring, and the stream and the spring are the cycle and are everything. The tears of autumn are neverending as the cycle is neverending; change is the constant, constant is the change.
Now we have someone to hold us; now our tears are one as all is one and we are one, and we have seen and recognized each other and ourselves. Now we walk as one.
I have always loved this drawing of yours. I remember I always thought of Calvary as I sat with my mother as she died; the Calvary of Patricia Lance, the Calvary of all. Golgotha, the place of the skull. But then, the escape! The butterfly arises, and we can breathe again. The sun returns. Yielding, falling into life: "into thy hands."
No one speaks the language of image better than you...
my friend, my wife.
I believe in happy endings. I believe in you.
