Transcendental Sonnet #817:
No Turning Back

This road is so narrow so winding so long
It keeps getting steeper and we are not strong
Never have we known a harder road

Never have we had to climb so high
And we climb bearing a heavy load
Which would be crushing in any case

I can see the question in your face...

But all I can do is wonder why
Why all this pain? Why all this sorrow?
Why all this heartbreak? Why this cancer?

I have no idea of an answer...

Except to keep climbing and hope tomorrow
We will turn a corner and find what we lack
All I know is there can be no turning back

Silkchen, my love...

We are climbing side by side now... I wrote this to say
That I am right here with you every step of the way
