There are stupid questions,
Just as there are stupid answers,
A childlike wondering,
Why is the sky blue?
What makes the sun so bright?
How does a can opener work?
The answers to questions,
Assumed by the naked eye,
Took geniuses to conclude.

When you ask questions that people believe to be simple, then you're placated like a child. British troops during the American Revolution used to shoot tin cans open with musket rifles until someone invented the can opener.

most of us are guilty of, at one time or other, inwardly ridiculing other people when we believe they ask "stupid" questions, and are made to feel the full hypocrisy of the situation when we become aware that we ourselves also ask such "stupid" questions on occasion. In fact, there's nothing stupid about many child-like questions, if they are evoked by a sense of wonder and mystery, coupled with intelligence and understanding. One need only think of what Einstein has said about the importance of child-like wonder and the sense of mystery, and its importance to him. Without being coupled with intelligence and understanding, however, "stupid" questions are truly stupid.

My initial reflection on the subject was to show how people reguard me as an idiot because I ask simple questions based on observations people don't tend to see. As you wonder more and more about small causes people often relate it to childishness.

If you ask a 'stupid' question, you may appear 'stupid' for 10 minutes or so.
If you don't ask that question. you remain stupid until you do ask it!

It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt

If all you can do to not sound stupid is to keep your mouth closed, then I would rather be an ignoramous.
