This question has been bouncing around my brain for several years now, and this seems like the ideal forum to present it. I am a PhD student in Health Psychology, so please be kind to me!
We know, or believe, that some drugs, such as marijuana, damage sperm. And the longer it is used, the more pronounced the damage is. Are there any studies being conducted that explore possible long-term damage to the DNA that the sperm eventually produce? As in critical areas of the brain? And does it just damage the sperm, or does it damage the sperm-producing system? (Endocrine?)
I question marijuana since it is fat soluble and attaches to the proteins. I began to question this during the Columbine tragedy, wondering what all these kids that were going berserk had in common. It seemed that they were "middle class" kids from educated families. And they were in that same generation. And parents partied a lot in college.
I have followed this for some years now, and have never found much support. But, like a pesky mosquito, it just will not leave me alone.
Looking forward to your comments (or guffaws!)

Hello mlhes45,
First off, I welcome you to mind-brain!
Secondly, I presume that if you receive guffaws, you can be sure it's from the kids whose outlook you are trying to protect [or prevent]!
Your intentions are honorable and I hope at least one of 'the family' can assist you in your search!
I cannot help with personal knowledge, however, and ask if you have done a search on the web?
I will, in any case, search for some leads.
All the best, Bill.

I have done web searches, however the further I journey in my studies the less time I have for the depth of searching necessary.
And yes, there have been guffaws from that population. Interestingly, I have been a dual diagnosis counselor for many years, and occasionally in groups I bring this topic up. It is amazing the number of males who begin to shift in their seats, eventually sharing that yes, they used "weed" a lot and their kids have problems.
To me it is a basic question, if something is damaged then would it not follow that the offspring of that damaged "something" would also be weakened? Or damaged?
This is not material for a dissertation at my level. However, hopefully I can inspire some greater minds out there to just take a look.

I'm back again!,
I have sent you a Personal Message (PM) containing many links, most of which will be useless I have no doubt!
However, I do encourage you to persevere, and will do further searches if they may help you.
Bye for now, Bill.
PS. Happy hunting.
