Here i stand


Here i stand on my own two feet
the ground beneath me is melting
from the heat of the sun
and as i'm slipping from my stable path
i know i'm not the only one

This life is full of surprises
that hit you unexpectedly then you fall
and these mistakes that i'm making
i wonder will i make use of
will i learn from them at all

This land that i live in
i hear so many explanations fallacious
till my ears are defeaned from such hypocrisy
it's brought me cause for concern
they listen to the lies instead of
truths that'll take years to relearn

Here i'm trying not to fall
from the height that i stand
pleading my thoughts my advocacy
for the hope of a better tomorrow
where we are not governed by fools
for a land where the people are free

Here i stand on my own two feet
the ground beneath me littered
drowning in the crowds
waves of people crashing before me
and this heart of mine embittered
