Transcendental Sonnet #727:
A Moment of Turning Away
The sun is blazing bright this noon but not for me
The summer solstice fast approaches but will pass
Unnoticed in my darkness here for Silke has
Turned away in sorrow as cruel destiny
Has now denied my broken heart that which it needs
Not used to getting what I want I shall not want
But I cannot quiet my heart now as it bleeds
Knowing that all the ghosts which linger and which haunt
Are mocking now it hurts somehow more than I thought
It ever could I feared it would thus come to nought
It always has it always will and so it should
So be it then if so then it must always be
That pleasures of this mocking world are not for me
Too good to be true... but Silke! How I love you!
