Ghost
By- Nichola Cordato

As the child giggles, skipping through the halls
Her transparent smile glimmers as it with holds a secret
The outline of her every move coming closer as I step back
I do not think she knows yet of her fate that has captured her long ago

As she steps back, her eyes narrowed on me with fear
She slowly makes a weeping noise as her black tap shoes hit the floor
Her black hair covering the sides of her face
Turning around, she takes one last glare, of my un-familiar face

Running from me, and fading, I’m standing in confusion of my last images
My last images of something I did not believe
I’m in shock, when I figure out
She’s not the one that didn’t realize her fate

What a fascinating story this poem tells, Nikita, and with what richness of detail! You really have a well-drawn narrative in this poem, which I find most absorbing. It's very visual.

Thanks for sharing this poem with us here. I like it very much! I always enjoy reading your work.

I hope you will be encouraged.
