"I learned lots more from tennis, too. My reluctance to bend my knees told me I was too aloof. I didn’t get down to other people’s level. On the basis of this insight, I took the flower essence Water Violet, which is for aloofness and condescension, and gradually my stiff knees softened. I started listening more to the viewpoints of those who were doing the practical work, and my effectiveness as a leader improved. I am convinced that this sort of work is preventive medicine and that without it I might well have ended up with seriously disabled, arthritic knees. ” (2)

I ask the reader to give a lot of thought to how this Water Violet and its interior structure allows energy and the brain to access and alter its normal approach. Gurdjieff learned a technique of body positioning which is here in his descriptions of the field of play in tennis. I think the discipline of Gurdjieff’s body movements which he said allowed programmed people to access their soul or spirit far more than logic was drawn from the same source that brought the Mutras and Mudras to ancient classical cultures like India and Greece. I deal with these sources in my book Diverse Druids.

The Chakras:

The Mudras activate brain lobes and can balance the flow of energy between these parts of the brain. Much of the science of mind has been well developed in Eastern thought over many millennia before Christ. There are whole books and maybe one could fill a whole library such as your local public library with the books written about or inspired by chakras and the ‘chhi’ energy they deal with. Here is a little more about the Third Eye or thalami related chakra from our Duke University Doctor quoted above.

“Intuition and the Third-eye Chakra
There’s no element to go with the sixth center—though there is a subtle flame often depicted here, meant to light the inner world seen by this other, inward-looking eye. While fire {Raja or Agni Yoga accentuates this aspect.} at the third chakra denotes sharpness of outer vision, the domain of this sixth chakra is seeing within. This is the center of intuition, of inner knowledge.

By trying to limit this capacity for knowing to the world of material phenomena we do energetic violence in this area. We suffer accordingly from sinusitis, visual problems, and sleep disturbances. This is the home base of the intellect, but its proper role is that of assistant to the strong currents of inner-based perception, the gnosis that comes from a connection to the Infinite. It’s not really meant to shoulder the burden of existential knowledge supported only by the limited world of physical phenomena.

The appropriate function of this center is seeing by allowing, not by manipulation of the endless minutiae that we regard as ‘intellectual.’ Unfortunately, unresolved issues associated with the chakras below pull energy here out into thoughts and behavior and into involvement with the world in ways that drag the intellect along. This obscures the otherwise clear vision of the third eye, and if there is a heavy emotional charge attached to these interactions with the world, they may color even our most intuitive perceptions.

If the intuitive process is consciously brought into play at all, the result can be less-than-accurate ‘psychic’ reading on the situation. Only when the lower chakra issues are brought fully into awareness and to resolution—‘lived through,’ when necessary—does the vision of the third eye clear. Barbara Brennan, whose healing work with energy is widely known and respected, tells of her experience with this process: {Biblio: See her book Light Emerging: The Journey of Personal Healing, pages 266-67.}

Just as she was beginning to access intuitive information about other people and enjoy the status of being ‘a psychic,’ her teacher, Eva Pierrakos, told her that she was too angry inside to handle the challenge…” (3)

Each individual has energy and habits or desires which allow the energy within and without to flow along pathways which eventually become comfortable even if they are not healthy. In some cases a person may repress their natural urges and experience explosions or outbursts that disable or create negative results (Tantric 'Tapas'). In the adept hands of disciplined people who transmute this knowledge it becomes a very positive experience. Napoleon Hill wrote Think and Grow Rich early during my life. In it he talked about sex transmutation. This does not need to include abstinence like the boxers and other athletes used to believe. Sometimes that is good to have done for a period of time while learning how the energy flows and what you can do to build this energy and use it. In fact this is what the ritual of the ‘Mass’ was originally all about. Mass is the buttocks in Irish and the seat of the sexual and earth-plane pleasures or Kundalini force is what we sit upon. To learn to properly pray or decree and creatively manifest reality one must have control of their energy and see how it can be augmented by the energy in the Cosmic Soup which surrounds us. The healer learns to take in energy from people and then send the negative aspects out of their body while returning good directed energy to the person they lovingly heal.

Much of this is pattern recognition caused by hypervigilance..
