Transcendental Sonnet #637:
The Waters of the Plaza Fountain Have Turned Green

The waters of the Plaza fountain have turned green
And as I sit here writing and wondering why
St. Patrick's Day has come and gone two months ago
Nobody dyed these waters green that much I know

This is a strange phenomenon here seldom seen
An algae bloom usually prevented by
The shenanigans of our sons and our daughters
Who have always kept these municipal waters
Quite sparkling by dint of detergent in their ranks
Dumped in upon conclusion of some victory

But now I see the green of badly-kept fish tanks
There must be some sporting statistical reason
It must still be too early in baseball season
But even green it still seems beautiful to me

It's not easy being green, that is for sure! This is a good sonnet! I must say we cleaned our own green fish tank water yesterday. Well, it was not green, but getting there! wink.gif Now its all fresh and clean!

Love ya!

Thanks so much, little sister!

I guess I really am a pretty simple soul; whenever I write a poem while sitting on a bench by the Plaza fountain on a sunny day, it always turns out to be a happy one. I'm so glad the weather is getting nice now, so I can take my daily walks downtown every day without fail. I think what I should do is really make sure I do walk every day, with the Plaza fountain as a destination, and I should always remember to take pencil and paper. That way we will have more of these silly sonnets, and maybe they will entertain a few people in general and Silke in particular.

Walking really helps my depression. That and plenty of Zoloft...

I love you, little sister; thanks so much for reading and replying.

Greet all the animals for me, would you? Especially those two little six week-old kittens who are staying with you now (I hope you can just keep 'em for always).

Talk to you later.

P.S.: Freddie Noodles sends you and all the animals his love (he had to be coaxed to include the dogs, but he did it of his own free will, eventually; his interest in mice Mike and Ike, however, is not entirely constructive, I fear).

Dear Steve,

Green : The colour of hope : HÃ¥bets farve

Mother Earths shade to compliment the blue hues of sky and sea.

I see the fountain before me but the green doesnt make it any less beautiful.

Namaste

+Goofball,

Glad to here your having great weather in my old stomping grounds. Here the weather has turned treacherous. Weekend before last we had 10 inches of rain in 3 hours, hail, and tornadoes as close as 20 miles down the road. Three people here in town died when there cars were swept off the roadways and 3 more up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Saturday before we receieved nearly 5 inches. In total we received 17 inches of rain in a 7 day period and for the month of April we received 32 inches of rain. Our annual average here is 37 inches. We have severe weather (Strong thunderstorms with the potential of producing tornadoes) supposedly coming tonight with our forcast through next Wednesday of thunderstorms EVERY day some severe. We have someone coming on Saturday to give us an estimate on a tornado shelter. We had a funnel cloud drop down about a mile in front of our house and have experienced baseball size hail twice so far. Be thankful for the SoCal weather. Mother Nature doesn't seem to have a sense of humor out here.

Stay Dry,

Big Kevo

Yes, Kevin, I saw about Corsicana on the news; I was horrified! I'm glad you and your family are OK. I prayed for you when I saw that report, and I will cerrtainly keep you in my prayers.

I send you every good wish for every happiness and success.
