Sundown~*

(Drawing without daylight...)

Don't hurry sundown!

Darkness comes to take away this wondrous new ability.
Don't come and take this concentration and pleasantness.
Stay away long....

Make a midnight sun so that the colors may yet flow out upon the paper.
Let the person who wants to appear become clearer and clearer yet.
Let her eyes open and her mouth smile.

Don't hurry sundown....
Don't come and take this wondrous new ability away from me
...with your darkness.

Sounds like the "flow experience" of the creator; the mystical state which means so much to me, in which I write my sonnets. Yes, we can draw without daylight, we can find our own midnight sun inside, or perhaps our big and blue full moon. What would I do without the ability to make things? It keeps me from going the rest of the way mad! And what I do is make things--sonnets--for you. Nothing makes me happier than to make you happy with a little present which I have made for you. And your beautiful poems and images always make me happy. I can't draw my way out of a paper bag, so I have to do all I can with words, also notes of music.

I love you, dear wife. Take me to Sweden and show me the midnight sun, and I will bring you here to show you my nasturtium flowers, my big fat cat, and the yellow roses in the Plaza. I will be silly for you, and sit on the cannon in front of City Hall, yelling "fire the laser!"

Thank you for being, and thank God I found you.

SI! SE PUEDE!
