Transcendental Sonnet #607:
As Silent Steals the Stalking Night
So much to write so much to read
My eyes my pencils busier
As light now fails in darker need
Than in good days which never were
So much to read so much to write
I excavate for meaning now
In my dark struggle toward the light
To dig out of my grave somehow
So much to write so much to read
So much to read so much to write
So little wisdom so much greed
Wrong everywhere no right no sight
The failing light now fails indeed
As silent steals the stalking night

hmmm, Dark and deep(You know I like the dark and deep ones!)
I think the last 2 lines are the best!

Thanks, little sister; I was thinking of you as I wrote it, of you and me and Silke and all of us. I just sent it to you in an email as well (blue on black, dark and deep!). I'm so glad you like it. I agree with you, the last two lines are the best; that's where the rubber meets the road in a sonnet, that's the time to shine (if, in this case, darkly).
I love you, and I'm happy to see you hereabouts on these pages. Silke will be wearing the ring later today! Hooray!
Hmmm... that's something to be happy about!
You and I are in unbreakable solidarity, always.
