Transcendental Sonnet #598:
Package in the Post
You know what a weather-wimp I am how I always freeze
I am not freezing today it is a hundred degrees
In my front yard so I am as naked as I can be
Without shocking such neighbors as are less open than me
Mucking about with my long garden hose giving a drink
To my hot thirsty raven friends who caw thank you (I think)
My postal carrier Michelle stopped by and she brought me
A Louise Hoffsten CD and some Kobbs Himlagott tea
She told me she loves to bring me these things because she knows
You love me I told her I love you too she said it shows
I told her about you Silke I told her everything
She wants to meet you and she wants to see your purple ring
I felt a tickle on my leg reached down brushed off some ants
And smiled to read your name in the return address as Lance

Thanks so much for your kind words, Nikita, here and everywhere; I really appreciate your interest in and support of my work.
Yep, this sonnet is a true story; and I could write two or three more about this package I got today from Silkchen. Right now, Louise Hoffsten is singing "let me wrap you in my warm and tender love," and I am drinking Himlagott tea, looking forward to ringing up Mausi when she wakes up.
A neighbor lady and fellow cat-parent and I were visiting today about our cats, and now she's going to buy my book, having seen her Smokey Joe immortalized within its pages. And the mail carrier really was wonderful about all the beautiful cards and packages she delivers to me from Silke; she hadn't seen me outside for a while, but, as my sonnet says, it was so hot today I was out watering. She wanted to stop and take the time to congratulate me. Mail carriers really can tell what's going on from what they bring us, never doubt it!
Thank you for helping us create a community here.

Thanks Diona!
I sure will keep writing; I love to write sonnets for Silke, especially when they can make her feel a little better. I mean to write a couple thousand of them; maybe I can actually get good at sonnetry, through an abundance of practice.
You add so much to the site, Diona, and I am grateful to you for your contributions.

Silke!
Thanks, honey! And thanks for being a Lance now; I just find that SO cool. We finally have a doctor in the family! You have really improved the gene pool. Remember, I need to learn Swedish (I hope I'm educable...). I will greet Michelle for you tomorrow when I'm out watering again; I will have to be out hosing down my lawn and flowers again, since it is supposed to be another scorcher tomorrow.
I love you! Thanks for such a lovely conversation just now.
I send you *Sweet Kisses Without Number!*
