Do you think the Guest Posting feature has gotten out of hand? I've been thinking about disabling this for a while. I originally thought that having Guest Posting enabled would encourage ppl to post more, but I see that it has also had the effect of guests making a lot of inflammatory posts. So, what do you think? For the time being, I've disabled Guest Posting, but may re-enable it, depending on several factors, including the results of this poll.

I think we should embrase the try before you buy option, and not enforce visibility of users. However maybe to stop recurrent "Guest" postings we could limit the number of times they can post before they would have to register to continue.

Is it possible to set up such a script Shawn?
Dan
keep it. it's good for the innocent (non-malicious) users and removing it won't stop the more willful malicious users from employing a variety of sock puppets instead. also, is it possible to uniquely tag 'guests' based on their ip address or any other uniquely identifiable information?
Joesus
You get plenty of inflamatory posts from your current members.
You gotta expect to get what you get in life when you expose yourself and your opinions to others no matter what the environment or the medium.
Shawn
I will keep the guest posting turned on for now. Note that I've changed the Quick-Reply Guest posting so that now the name 'Unknown' instead of 'Guest' appears alongside the post.

Thank you Dan, Joesus, and Laz for your feedback.
